Johnny Carroll-Pell, 27, is an autistic artist. His creativity has found recognition across the UK and beyond. He held his first major solo exhibition at the Phoenix Art Gallery in Brighton. Since then he has also had exhibitions at Belper, Keynsham, the Baltic in Gateshead, and Copenhagen Contemporary. He is also an active member of Project Art Works in Hastings and Riding for the Disabled at Fairlight Hall.
Johnny’s parents are the poet Henry Normal and screenwriter Angela Pell. They co-wrote A Normal Family, a book about life with Johnny. Johnny’s story and creativity have further inspired several BBC Radio 4 programmes. These include poetry collections by his father, and the film Snow Cake, written by his mother.
